Urofollitropin
Urogastrone
A 6-kDa polypeptide growth factor initially discovered in mouse submaxillary glands. Human epidermal growth factor was originally isolated from urine based on its ability to inhibit gastric secretion and called urogastrone. Epidermal growth factor exerts a wide variety of biological effects including the promotion of proliferation and differentiation of mesenchymal and EPITHELIAL CELLS. It is synthesized as a transmembrane protein which can be cleaved to release a soluble active form.
Urogastrone, lys-beta-
Analog of human beta-urogastrone with an additional N-terminal lysine.
Uroguanylin
Stimulates intestinal guanylate cyclase; GenBank Z83746 (pig).
Urokinase
A proteolytic enzyme that converts PLASMINOGEN to FIBRINOLYSIN where the preferential cleavage is between ARGININE and VALINE. It was isolated originally from human URINE, but is found in most tissues of most VERTEBRATES.
Urol (pharmaceutical)
Used for expulsion of urinary calculi; contains extracts of Rad. Rubiae, Sem. Ammeos visnagae, Herb Virgaureae, Rad. Taraxaci & escin.
Urolithin A
Metabolite of ellagic acid.
Urolithin B
Has antiproliferative activity.
Uronic acids
Acids derived from monosaccharides by the oxidation of the terminal (-CH2OH) group farthest removed from the carbonyl group to a (-COOH) group. (From Stedmans, 26th ed)
